Scentsy Convention!

I just got back from Scentsy's annual convention.  This year it was held in Denver, CO and it was so much fun!  We laughed, danced, cheered, and we were motivated, inspired, and educated.  I feel so excited about my business!

We started with a big tailgate party with lots of music, dancing, even a marching band.  At the party the next five Collegiate warmers were announced which made a lot of people so excited! We now have: Auburn, Alabama, Ohio, Texas, and South Carolina!

The party was rounded out with tons of tailgate party foods, karaoke, and dancing!  What a blast!

At the general sessions we heard new product announcements, including the Patriot Collection, a collection of warmers honoring the service men and women in our military branches.  We also learned about some new products including the scent packs and my favorite... the Scentsy Buddies.  These are darling stuffed animals with a pocket in the back where a scent pack can be inserted to infuse the stuffed animal with a calm, soothing scent. 

Our general sessions were also an opportunity to meet some of the companies top selling and top recruiting consultants!  I have to say that I felt proud to be one of the Directors called up on stage, and hope that next year I will be in the Star Director group.

They're Back!

Scentsy has had so many fabuslous scents over the years, and inevitably, they have to retire some of them now and then to make room for new ones. So this is the month to get those great retired scents. In a fun contest, Scentsy let customers and consultants vote on which scents to bring back. Then they narrowed them down to 20 scents. Stinky Car

This is what I heard from my teenage son as we embarked on a road trip today. Quickly I ran into the house and pulled a new Scentsy hanging freshener, Satin Sheets, one of my very favorite scents. Within just a few minutes I could smell it in my car. Now I just have to figure out what was causing the original stink. I'm think it is something in the car trash bin, or maybe a kid left a 1/2 eaten hot dog under a seat, gross. Thing is, I couldn't smell the "stink", but I could definitely smell my new Scentsy Satin Sheets hanging freshener.

We turned six years old today!

Having lived in another country, I feel pretty defensive about how truly amazing America is!  The very conditions of the birth of our nation are miraculous.  We live in a blessed nation.

MY FAVORITE TEACHER

My favorite teacher would probably have to be Mrs. Jensen.  She taught 5th grade at Mountain View Elementary.  She had built a reading loft in her classroom, complete with cozy pillows and bookshelves galore!  I loved her because she made me feel special (she made everyone feel special), and because she introduced me to the best books which started me in a life long love of reading.  She was old!  I mean, probably like 40 or something!  I laugh as I type that, but she did seem so much older at the time, and she had a wonderful hardy laugh, which we were blessed to hear often.  Thank you Mrs. Jensen for everything!

Then of course there was Mr. Amburn, he came the next year.  Poor guy, Mrs. Jensen had infused me with so much confidence that one day, when he annoyed me, I just hauled off and slapped him across the face.  Can you imagine?!  I burst into tears and ran into the bathroom, sure I would be kicked out of school for the rest of my life.  When I finally emerged, bless the dear man, he didn't say a word about it.  He deserves a gold star for sure!

And of course, Mr. Coughlin.  He came later, in my senior year at Capital High School.  He taught me to believe in myself (somewhere between slapping Mr. Amburn and going through puberty I lost that).  When I struggled with my senior project he believed in me.  He met students on Saturday mornings at Elmer's Pancake House and helped us with our projects.  It was there, sitting in Elmer's that I learned that my own thoughts and beliefs were enough to support my thesis, as long as I backed them up with solid logic and research.  Thank you Mr. Coughlin for preparing me for college, and even more so, for life.
