Our Story…

Collette Gunnell and Kara Egan of Centerville, Utah, were busy moms looking for a safer and healthier alternative to wicked candles. They combined their efforts to create a unique product which resulted in the formation of Scentsy in 2003.


Orville Thompson learned about Scentsy and became one of their biggest fans. He loved the Scentsy line so much that he approached Collette and Kara about purchasing the company. A deal was made and Orville became the new owner, moving the Scentsy to Meridian, Idaho in 2005.


With Orville’s direction and business experience, Scentsy has continued to grow, at a phenomenal rate…breaking records and setting the pace for Scentsy to become a leader in the candle industry.


Collette and Kara are still very much a part of the company today. Their love for the products didn’t end with the sale of the company. Because a sooty candle is never our problem, we can pack each Scentsy Candle Bar with more fragrance oil than most 12 oz. jarred candles. Scentsy Candle Warmers are specifically designed to perfectly melt Authentic Scentsy Candle Bars into an impressive wax pool that throws the maximum amount of fragrance over the longest period of time. Scentsy Candle Warmers melt wax at a lower temperature so there is never any danger of burning children or pets. With dozens of colors and styles to choose from, there is a Scentsy Candle Warmer to fit every decor.


Our candle warmers are electric and heated with a light bulb, ranging from 15 watts - 25 watts depending on the size of the candle warmer. Each candle warmer has the necessary bulb included with purchase. This low watt bulb is hot enough to melt the candle wax, but not hot enough to burn if spilled.

Your Scentsy business starts with the commitment from a company that believes in supporting their Consultants and is open to listening to new ideas and suggestions. Consultants have the opportunity to earn over 30% on personal sales and receive leadership bonuses of up to 9% of the entire down line volume of the people you recruit and train.


Independent Consultants submit payment, in full, for shows/products and then are issued their earned commissions via a Visa paycard on the 10th.



To remain an active Independent Consultant, just sell $150 per quarter ($150 must be sold within a single calendar month, in a 3 month period). Managing Your Business


When you join Scentsy, you are not making any kind of long term commitment—if it doesn't work out for any reason, you can choose to quit at any time, without any ongoing financial obligations. You can also request a voluntary hiatus to take a month or more to handle personal situations that may be making it difficult to stay on top of your business. Most people, however, can manage to sell the $150 in a single month at least once a quarter. The most successful consultants choose to set aside some of their time and/or financial resources to help their business grow. The exact amount depends totally on their goals and how much time or money they have available. Some consultants choose to re-invest a portion or percentage of their monthly commissions to help build their business, others simply work their business hard and only spend what is necessary to re-stock catalogs or update scents.



Your optional, ongoing expenses will be minimal:

 You'll periodically need more business supplies, depending on your strategies and level of activity. You'll find, however, that all the business tools offered by Scentsy (such as brochures, catalogs, etc.) are offered at low prices. So, unless you're planning on running expensive advertising campaigns or doing large mailings, your ongoing business costs can be very low.

• You'll probably want to participate on the Scentsy conference calls. They are a great way to learn successful business building techniques. There is no cost other than your long-distance charges to the call center. But, you may want to set aside a few dollars each month to cover these or other business-related long distance calls…unless of course you have an unlimited long distance service.


• You may have other expenses specific to the business methods you choose. But, in general, you'll find that your investment in your Scentsy business is small compared to the benefits.


Additionally, we encourage our Consultants to try a wide variety of Scentsy products in their own homes. We feel it would be of questionable ethics for an Independent Consultant who isn't using any of the products to tell others how wonderful our products are.
